Another great Breakfast Get Together

21 at Breakfast last Sunday on a wet but mild day at Just Eddies, great turnout for the last one of 2012. Busy holiday season coming up for everyone but keep in mind the Motorcycle Supershow in Toronto. Our plan is to go down as a group on Friday January 4/2013, more information later. Nice picture of everyone thanks to Wolfgang and the waitress.

End of 2012 Riding Season......I Think !!!!

After some splendid Fall riding right up until last week, the snow has hit the Orillia area. Sand trucks have been out several times already which to me at least, signals an end to my riding for this season.
Thanks to everyone that participated in making our Chapter the group to ride with. Your comments whether positive or negative are appreciated always, also the pictures you sent in of the great times we all had, they number 444, and that's just in 2012.
Don't forget our winter Breakfast Get Together's on the 1 st. Sunday of each month at Just Eddies on Atherley Road, Orillia at 9.30 am. and PLEASE bring along your spouses or significant other's, grandchildren or whoever. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

Bobcaygeon on Remembrance Day

Eleven members showed up on the eleventh day of the eleventh month which started off with us all paying our respects to Canada's fallen members of the military with a moment of silence and our thanks for what they achieved.
The day was warm and the roads soon dried out for us to enjoy the freedom of a great ride to Bobcaygeon for a lunch stop.
Thanks to Bev and Ron D. for the pictures, more can be seen by clicking on the Photo Gallery 2012.

First of the Winter Breakfast brrrrr.

With the temperatures close to freezing, it seemed like a good idea to start off our Winter program of a Breakfast Get Together on the 1 st. Sunday of each month. This does NOT mean an end to the riding season just yet so keep the bikes handy. Anyway, thanks to Bev for the picture of our first breakfast although it seems most of us were not really paying too much attention at the time, probably all too mean and hungry.

Around Lake Simcoe

Riding days maybe getting scarce but last Thursday the temperature hit a balmy 25 degrees so 6 members took off on a Circle the Simcoe Ride lead by Bram who had suggested this ride to me some while ago. Great job and also real nice pictures thanks to Bev and Ron Hare. More pictures by clicking on "Photo Gallery 2012"

Fall riding at it's best

Another great Fall ride last Sunday to the Badlands south of Orangeville. Weather started out looking pretty grim but we knew that going south or west, we would have a dry ride. Not only was it dry but the skies cleared just south of Barrie to add a little heat from the sunshine. Thanks to the 16 members that showed up and also to the "Pilgrim" for suggesting and leading this ride. Great job.

Thanksgiving

Three hardy types heading out for a chilly ride on Thanksgiving Sunday. Looked like two big patches with heated grips and heated seats and one little patch that froze her bee-hind. Hope this is not an indication of what we can expect for weather as we head through October and November. Everyone keep your fingers crossed. Thanks Blanka for the pictures.

Fall color ride to Algonquin Park

Despite the gloomy weather forecast, last Sunday morning in Orillia presented itself as clear skies and calm winds so the hasty decision was made to make the trip north through Algonquin Park to see the Fall colors. The sunny conditions lasted almost to Huntsville then changed to overcast skies and light drizzle but somehow didn't dampen anyone's spirits.
Fall colors in the Park were at their peak, the best I've ever seen, pretty difficult to capture the sight on camera but thanks to some of our members, they gave it a good shot.
One little hiccup was when we arrived at Whitney for lunch, they were all out of gas. Fortunately the fuel truck pulled in while lunch was being served.
By the time I went through Orillia on the way home, the evening sky was ablaze with color promising a beautiful day to follow, an end to a perfect day with great companions.
Thanks to all those that participated including Steve and the Pilgrim that lead this ride and to Karl that served as Blocker and Tail Gunner. Here are some of your pictures, the rest can be seen in the Photo Gallery.

Hooters Celebration

A pretty ride down Ridge Road from Orillia to Barrie to celebrate the great riding season we've had so far. The destination was Hooters in Barrie with 30 of us sitting down together at two tables. Lots of fun and good food. Thanks to the Pilgrim for the pictures with more that can be seen by clicking on the Photo Gallery 2012.

Balm Beach

Temperature was a little cool and daylight was soon to run out but we still had a really good turnout for the ride to Balm Beach last Wednesday evening only to find everything closed up for the night. I guess Summer's over.
Next stop was Timmy's in Midland to get warmed up for the ride home. Thanks to John T. for the pictures.

Midland Toy Ride & Wiarton Willy

Despite overcast and threatening clouds, many of our members turned out for the Annual Midland Toy Ride sponsored by the CMH and the Salavation Army last Saturday. Great, well organized ride, great free pizza and a truly great cause. Thanks to everyone for your support.

This ride was followed on Sunday by a ride in search of Wiarton Willy lead by Ron Hare. Beautiful ride through the rolling countryside of the Niagara Escarpment and along the shores of Georgian Bay and yes we did find Wiarton Willy, or at least a monument to him. Thanks Ron and also to Bev for some of the pictures. More can be seen by clicking on the Photo Gallery 2012.

From Grey County to the Chainsaw Artist

Sunny and cool was the start of our ride today to Grey County and a lunch stop in Singhampton. This was followed by pretty scenery of Grey 13 to Thornberry and on to Wasaga Beach for a much needed coffee stop, one in and one out if you know what I mean. Finally through Moonstone road and a stop to see the Chainsaw Art carved into trees at the side of the road. Thanks to Glenn McGill for leading this ride, especially around the rain clouds in the morning and to Jim and Roger that took care of our collective butts at the back of the group.

More great pictures at the BIG ONE

The Big One

This past Wednesday evening was the last Bike Night of the season in Gravenhurst, a sure sign of Fall coming. This was followed by Haugan's BIG ONE in Port Perry where we had another great turnout of members including Brian Ineson on his brand new Gold Wing. Congratulation Brian, he now has more buttons to push on that bike than he knew existed. The weather was absolutely perfect but I think they fell way short of the thousand bikes that would normally turn out, still a good night though. Some pictures here thanks to the Pilgrim and Ron who sent them to me this morning, great job.

Hockey Night in Canada

Perfect weather was the order of the day for a ride through Coldwater and Port Severn then on to Don Cherry's restaurant in Parry Sound before heading along the beautiful hwy. 518 through Orrville in search of another Canadian hockey legend, Bobby Orr. Well, we didn't see either one of them but the ride was spectacular. Fall colors are starting to show in places, seems to me that the timing is right on track. Thanks to Brian Ineson for the pictures, hopefully more will arrive soon. Also thanks to Beverley for working at putting a comment on last Wednesday's post.

Wednesday Ride with a Twist

This past Wednesday evening we were treated to a surprise ride by Ron Hare to Wrico Holstein Dairy farm near Midhurst.
This is scientific dairy farming at it's best. A family run enterprise that is run by computer generated robotics, from automated feeding, milking and cleaning of waste to the occasional back scratch and a water bed to rest on. This is truly a lifestyle that I've been looking for myself and never found yet.
This was most certainly a ride with a twist and something we should try to do more of, so get your collective thinking hats on everyone and come up with more great ideas like this one.

Thanks to Bev and also my Granddaughter Erin for the pictures, many more by clicking on Photo Gallery 2012 on the right side of this page and please try clicking on the "Comment" at the bottom of each post. It's a bit complicated but let me know if you have problems.
